The 2017 BET Awards took place last night and left many quite elated, whilst some individuals were not impressed with the night’s offerings at all – we refer to outraged Nicki Minaj fans here, of course.
Best Male R&B/Pop Artist winner, Bruno Mars, opened the show with an energetic performance of his track ‘Perm’ – starting the four-hour, star-studded event with a bang. There were powerhouse performances from a few R&B divas – Mary J. Blige and Tamar Braxton- and a few disses here and there (we’re talking about Remy Ma’s acceptance speech).
The most anticipated award, the BET Humanitarian Award, went to Chance the Rapper who was given a huge congratulations from Michelle Obama. Another big win went to old school R&B group, New Edition, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award, and then went on to give a showstopper medley performance. A few other big wins went to Beyonce who received four awards, Taraji P. Henson (Best Actress Award), Solange Knowles (BET Centric Award), as well as Migos and Lil Uzi Vert for their collaboration on the track ‘Bad and Boujee’.
Along with all the great entertainment and celebrations, came a fashion extravaganza, with celebs strutting their stuff in all their glory along the coveted red carpet! This year the stars offered up some summer style inspiration, experimenting with textures and colour, and turning that glamour switch all the way up.
We put together a list of some of the best dressed entertainers who showed up at the 2017 BET Awards red carpet.
