Halsey’s beauty tips and tricks

Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, better known as Halsey, is a full-blown beauty chameleon. We take you through Halsey’s beauty tips and tricks and her take on self love, both inside and out.

The 23-year-old American singer has been making waves in the music industry for always being notoriously daring, a little reckless, very impulsive, but never boring. As a young kid, she loved to paint, explaining that she understands colours, depths and shadows. This is why she loves the art of make-up so much. Her music reflects her self-discoveries, and so does her beauty journey: She has collaborated with MAC to introduce her own (grey) matte lip shade around the time her Badlands album came out. More recently, she’s an ambassador for Yves Saint Laurent Beauté, where she will not only be doing her own make-up for appearances, but creating looks with the brand as well.

We all have them. Here’s a few of Halsey’s favourite elements when it comes to make-up:

For a blinding highlight, she loves to layer with a cream, a powder and then a mist.

Try: Estée Lauder The Illuminator Radiant Perfecting Primer + Finisher R435, followed by Urban Decay Afterglow Highlighting Palette R660. Finish off with Glamglow Glowsetter Make-up Setting Spray, R410

What look is complete without perfectly fluffed-up brows and a hint of colour?

Try: Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara R110.92 and GOSH Rebel Eyes Mascara R156.36

And then, of course, her favourite lip colour: MAC Matte Lipstick in Velvet Teddy R245

Halsey has gone through quite a few styles. And colour … lots of hair colour. If it’s not blonde, it’s blue. If it’s not long and wavy, it’s shaved off completely. Although Halsey has always been unapologetic of the style or hair colour that she chooses, there’s often a distinct reason as to why she chose that specific look. When it was a vibrant blue, it represented her music, which she describes as multidimensional: ‘It can be bright and electric, it can be moody and ethereal, or calm and watery.’ One thing’s for sure though, Halsey is not afraid to experiment, and has set a few trends along the way. To extend and care for any hair colour you may have, or want to experiment with, treating your hair is key.

Try: L’Oréal Paris Elvive Colour Protect 60 Second Saviour Intensive Treatment R100.83
