Beauty doesn’t have to be boring. Coat your eyelids in colour, sticking to a single shade, for a fresh and modern look. We’ve listed the most vibrant eyeshadow looks you need to try!
Pantone’s Color of the Year, we love the pop of colour purple and lilac shades add. When simply washed over lids, it’s the perfect colour for an everyday eye look. Apply a dash of mascara at the roots of the lashes for subtle definition.
Tip: Get extra pigment power by applying a cream shadow first as a base for the colourful powder shadow to stick to.
The sunset tones of orange are a perfect compliment to brown eyes, but really work wonders on making blue eyes pop. Instead of using two different shades to create the impression of depth, start by applying an eye primer on the lid area only. Then pat your colour eyeshadow of choice from the lash line all the way up to the brow bone. Finish by going back in to layer more shadow along the way from the lash line to the crease, so the pigment can stick to the primer, and really start to show.
Tip: To get a seamless blend when working with cream and powder shadow, use a bit of translucent powder
over the cream shadow or primer first, then work the powder over, blending as you go.
Believe it or not, yellow is a universally flattering shade, as we all have varying degrees of yellow in our skin tone. If the thought of yellow eyeshadow scares you, start with a wash of pale lemon. There are only two must-have brushes you need to get this washed colour look: A synthetic brush such as Real Techniques Bold Metals Oval Shadow 200 (R302.59), which is perfect for working with any cream shadows. Urban Decay Iconic Eyeshadow brush (R300), a fluffy brush that works well when packing on powder shadows and blending.
Tip: Brows are an important part of this look, keep them well groomed and brushed up to create the perfect frame for your statement eye.
