Combat bumper-to-bumper traffic

Sitting in traffic on a daily basis is the pain of our existence, we can’t stand it! Being stuck in traffic with kids in the car, however, we were never ready for (until now). With busy, hyperactive, grumpy or even moody kids, we can easily lose our cool – you know what we’re talking about, right?

To ensure a stress-free traffic jam, here are five tips on how to combat bumper-to-bumper traffic like a pro.

1. Remain calm

As hard as it may be at times, always try to remain calm.

2. Always carry healthy treats

If you can, keep a cooler in the front seat packed with healthy treats that the kids will enjoy. Avoid sweets, fizzers or even chips, and opt for healthier snacks such as grapes, carrot sticks, juice boxes, raisins, trail mix, etc.

3. Play I-spy (the kids love it!)

“I spy with my little eye” is an easy-to-learn game. We can assure you the little ones will enjoy it! This game is perfect for preschoolers, and will keep them entertained for a long time.

4. Carpool karaoke like James Corden

It goes without saying that we all enjoy singing in the car. Allow the little ones to create a playlist with all of their favourite tunes. This is a great way to get the kids involved and hyped up for the day (in a good way, of course).

5. Lie about how long you’re still going to be

Kids find the response “we’ll be there in 15 minutes” less disappointing than “we’re almost there”. Stick with 15 minutes and the rest of the trip will be a breeze.
